Absolute garbage... May 16, 2010 Clay Carter (Wisconsin) The first time I was even preparing to use these, they both collapsed irretrievably into and through the handles. They bore my weight in the store, but I also can see now why they were clearance and so cheap to begin with. If you're a serious backpacker or hiker, DO NOT TRUST THESE POLES TO SAVE YOU FROM A FALL. I'm glad I didn't have to test it with fifty extra pounds on my back, could've broken something and ruined my whole summer.
won't lock in height March 22, 2010 Angela Weeks (Orlando, Fl) I just picked these up fairly cheap on clearance, but I can see why now. Neither pole locks in height. I twisted and twisted in the direction instructed yet they continue to collapse with the application of pressure.
eddie bauer hiking pole det March 12, 2010 J. R. Egan (NEWPORT BEACH, CA, US) Exastly as i orded and arrived in timley fashon,in perfectly good condition. Will probably order another set shortly.
better than most March 7, 2010 mind expansion through knowledge (san diego) After several uses, the poles seem to be rugged and reliable while the flip-open lid of the light assembly is fragile and easily broken. A sharp bump took the light assembly right off the pole. Before breaking though, the light worked well. The compass is cheesy and points north sometimes if you rotate the pole so the needle points north. The poles however, are good and solid. The locking mechanisms and spring cushioning work well and hold nicely. Considering the cost of other collapsible poles on the market, these are very much worth the cost. Even after breaking the light assy off, I have bought two more pair as gifts.
Crappy poles February 3, 2010 Gavin Riegel (New Jersey) I opened mine up on christmas and of course the compass pole wouldnt lock, so i sent them back, they came back and i had the same problem with the the compass pole. I see the price reflects the quality.
